WORDS: Dean Martin

Slam Dunk Festival are celebrating their 10th anniversary in a big way! The annual day festival has added another eight acts to its lineup.

Newly added to the lineup for the festival are:

MALLORY KNOX

THE STORY SO FAR (exclusive to Slam Dunk Festival)

SET YOUR GOALS (exclusive to Slam Dunk Festival)

THE STARTING LINE

ZEBRAHEAD

CAPDOWN

WE CAME AS ROMANS

MISS MAY I

These bands join previously announced headliners PANIC! AT THE DISCO, as well as OF MICE AND MEN, NEW FOUND GLORY, FOUR YEAR STRONG, EVERY TIME I DIE, ISSUES, MEMPHIS MAY FIRE and REAL FRIENDS.

“This announcement again really feels like it represents the anniversary of the festival” says promoter Ben Ray, CAPDOWN who played the very first event, SET YOUR GOALS reforming to play, THE STARTING LINE with a very rare UK appearance, and ZEBRAHEAD who have so much fun they want to play every year! There’s also still so many bands to be announced, it’s going to be a great year!’

“We are thrilled to be back on Slam Dunk this year”, say SET YOUR GOALS, “We’ve taken much time off and it only felt right that our first festival back be with you guys. We want to thank everyone attending for inviting us over, and we hope to give you one of the best shows of 2016!”

Slam Dunk will be the first UK shows since MISS MAY I released their newest album DEATHLESS back in August last year. Not an act to be missed by any MISS MAY I fans.

For MALLORY KNOX the festival is always a special occasion: “I get the same amount of excited for Slam Dunk every year since it has been on my radar and I love that.” says frontman Mikey.  “Whether we are playing or just attending to watch it’s always a weekend thats one of the highlights of my year. With the lineup this year, I have no doubts 2016 will be much the same.”

Slam Dunk have secured an exclusive for the 2016 line up in THE STORY SO FAR. After their sell out tour at the end of last year this is a great opportunity for any fans who missed out to see another great band, or see again!

It is only right that CAPDOWN play the 10th anniversary of Slam Dunk because they graced the stage back in 2006 at the very first. It’s a great chance for any music fan to become familiar with the uniquely British ska punk sound that is CAPDOWN. On the upcoming festival they said: “So 10 years of Slam Dunk? My how you have grown…  Looking forward to what Slam Dunk has in store for us this time round, always a blast!”

Another exclusive in the 2016 line-up is THE STARTING LINE. This is an exciting time to see them because they’ve just announced a 3 track EP, ANYWAYS, which will be their first studio release in 8 year. Last time they played Slam Dunk was in 2011 just shy of their groundbreaking album Say It Like You Mean It’s anniversary.

Not many bands can say they’ve beaten METALLICA, but WE CAME AS ROMANS can. Their recent live DVD debuted at number one on the Billboard DVD charts, and next for the American metalcore band is, of course, to play at Slam Dunk Festival.

Last, but not least, ZEBRAHEAD said: “…Slam Dunk Festival has always been a blast. This is our third time playing and we are really looking forward to coming back for the shows. The crowds are always crazy and come to have a good time.”
