33 injured in lightning strikes at festival
33 people were injured at the Rock Am Ring festival in Germany when lightning struck the festival twice.
The first lightning bolt struck the festival’s backstage area at 1am which injured eight production staff.
Despite lightning-proof tents opened for campers to shelter, a second bolt struck the campsite at 4 am which injured 25 people.
Local police have stated that those injured were taken to local hospitals for observation but no serious injuries were sustained.
Around 90,000 are in attendance at Rock Am Ring, which ends today with sets from SLIPKNOT, FOO FIGHTERS, LAMB OF GOD, IN FLAMES and others.
