Joyce Manor announce new album ’40 oz. To Fresno’
JOYCE MANOR have announced a new album!
The upcoming album, titled 40 oz. To Fresno, is the brand new album from the American indie punk band and is the follow-up to 2018’s Million Dollars To Kill Me and 2020’s compilation album, Songs From Northern Torrance, and is scheduled to be released in June this year, via Epitaph Records.
Originally planning to take a small break from music, the band brought their latest project to life thanks to singer/guitarist Barry Johnson’s desire to keep writing during quarantine. Produced by Rob Schnapf [ELLIOTT SMITH, TOKYO POLICE CLUB, JOYCE MANOR’s Cody], mixed by Tony Hoffer [BECK, PHOENIX] with Tony Thaxton of MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK on drums, a sense of liberation intends to lie at the core of this project.
Speaking about the upcoming album, vocalist Barry Johnson says, “this album makes me think of our early tours, drinking a 40 in the van on a night drive blasting GUIDED BY VOICES and smoking cigarettes the whole way to Fresno.”
Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released a new music video for the first song lifted from the upcoming album; Gotta Let It Go.
