Beach Rats release new song ‘Blown To Bits’
BEACH RATS have released a new song!
Titled Blown To Bits, it is the third and final single to tease the punk rock band’s debut album Rat Beat, which is scheduled to be released in July this year via Epitaph Records.
Speaking about the band’s writing process, guitarist Brian Baker comments, “You get into a practice room with no agenda and you start fucking around and a chord progression becomes the verse. Then comes the chorus, the breakdown. Then, maybe a weird part. That’s it.”

The upcoming album follows the band’s 2018 debut EP. Most of the songs were conceptualized and rehearsed in the basement of Baker‘s home and then tracked by Eric Bennett at Lakehouse Studios in only one day.
Speaking about the process of making the album, Baker says, “We’d go down in the basement, put on masks, open the windows and we could play – within CDC guidelines! We couldn’t go to dinner at each other’s houses but we could practice.”
“You’re gonna get authentic punk and hardcore from BEACH RATS because we are all from the 80s,” adds bassist Bryan Kienlen. “It’s literally taking it back to some of our biggest influences like NEGATIVE APPROACH and POISON IDEA. And of course, MINOR THREAT.”
