D L G Z release new song ‘Words Come Out All Wrong’
D L G Z have released a new song!
Titled Words Come Out All Wrong, it is taken from the experimental rock quintet’s upcoming new album Setbacks & Reversals, which is scheduled to be released this Friday via Do It Youssef, Araki Records and Pied De Biche.
Speaking about the track, the band comment, “We’re pretty proud of Words Come Out All Wrong. From time to time, we do long tracks where we try to explore an idea in depth. Like with First We’ll Drink To Good Times, where we have fun deconstructing 4/4, or Hit Me 3 Times and its changing tempo on the previous album. The intention here is to erase any impression of metricity, and focus on the pulse, which is criss-crossed by ‘accents’ played by the rhythm section and chord changes whose placement seems random and unpredictable. The rhodes and guitar are free and improvised. The voice links the two. The lyrics revolve around the difficulties of communicating what we think and feel. The track creates an impression of weightlessness and floating, of echoes and shimmers, while paradoxically expressing a great deal of power. Its evolution towards a chaotic, noisy finale contrasts with the precision of the set-up.”
