Alkymist release new music video for ‘The Scent’
ALKYMIST have released a new music video!
The new music video, for the track The Scent, is taken from the Danish progressive doom/sludge metal band’s upcoming new album, UnnDerr, which is scheduled to be released in November this year, via Indisciplinarian.
The new song’s accompanying music video was created by filmmaker Mikisog H. Lynge. Combining original footage with excerpts from Fritz Lang‘s classic Metropolis, the video conveys a stark vision of submission and longing, thus indirectly conveying the song theme of love as a destructive drug.
Speaking about the new song, vocalist Peter Bjørneg says, “somewhere in the crowd, buried in shame, there’s a soul that suffers. Sealed and closed up tight in despair and out of sight… because love can be a poison. One who has lost control over life, soul and mind. Whose existence is threatened and has done everything to hold on to the poison because it becomes a drug. You lose all sense of danger; you lose all peace of mind, and your soul turns to dust. If you take in someone else’s poison – thinking you can relieve them by sharing it – you will instead destroy yourself.”
