Hooded Menace announce new album ‘Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration’
HOODED MENACE have announced a new album!
The upcoming record, titled Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration, is the seventh studio album from the Finnish death-doom band is the follow-up to 2021’s The Tritonus Bell, and is scheduled to be released in October this year, via Season of Mist.
The album continues the band’s morbid obsession with classic horror while expanding their sonic palette with new surprises. Cover artist Wes Benscoter recreates Amando de Ossorio’s Blind Dead in all its ghoulish glory, while the music draws further influence from 80s heavy metal, building on the foundations laid by previous LP The Tritonus Bell. The band’s signature bone-crushing riffs, courtesy of founding member Lasse Pyykkö, remain intact, but the album also features unexpected elements – including a haunting cello performance by former live bassist Antti Poutanen.
Alongside the album announcement, the band have released a brand new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; Portrait Without a Face. The new music video was directed by Tekla Valy, with additional footage filmed by Mikko Saastamoinen.
