Gutvoid announce new album ‘Liminal Shrines’

GUTVOID have announced a brand new album!

Titled Liminal Shrines, the second full‑length from the Canadian progressive death metal band is set to be released on March 20th via Profound Lore Records.

A follow‑up to 2022’s debut album Durance Of Lightless Horizons and 2024’s Breathing Obelisk EP, the new record marks the first half of a two‑part concept and finds GUTVOID pushing further into their blend of modern death‑doom, cosmic horror atmosphere, and progressive songwriting.

Liminal Shrines was recorded at Boxcar Sound Recording, Mount Wexler Studio, and Dystonic Sounds, mixed and mastered by Greg Dawson at BWC Studios, and features cover art by Kjell Åge Meland.

Alongside the announcement, the band have released the lead single Spell Reliquary, offering the first glimpse into the record’s new conceptual chapter.

Speaking about the track, guitarist/vocalist Brendan Dean says, Spell Reliquary was the first song written for Liminal Shrines and represents where our sound has evolved: progressive in structure, a strong focus on melody, yet still rooted in the heavy, death/doom approach of our previous work. Lyrically it follows one person’s quest to find a forgotten mystical text of transformation, one of many explorations of the concept of changing states that threads throughout the new album.”
