EP REVIEW: Here You Dream – Blush Puppy
Rising band, BLUSH PUPPY, have put out their debut EP Here You Dream. 2026 has been an exciting year for the Midlands quartet, thanks in part to their blend of emo, pop, grunge, alternative, and metal, creating something unforgettable and entirely breathtaking. So far during the year they have made an appearance on BBC Introducing and shared stages with likes BAD NERVES and POOL KIDS, with their own headline shows coming in the year following the EP’s release with a promise of there being more to come.
Here You Dream might be only five songs long, but they will stay with you long after your very first listen given the stunning soundscapes and emotions you experience across the record. Furthermore, this is an EP that is meant to be heard in a live setting. Opening things up is Polish The Chrome which is an alternative meets bouncy rock track with an industrial soundscape building up gradually in the background. The vocals are aggressive, the instrumentals are beautifully tied together with a louder than life production, and one can visualise how a crowd would react as BLUSH PUPPY perform onstage.
Following this is Tears In Rain which is much heavier on the industrial sounds, now elevated with electronic elements that you would hear in an early 00s nu-metal song. And much like some of those tracks back then, it feels very empowering and somewhat emotional with the beautiful harmonies. We then move back into bouncy rock territory with Under The Water that continues that sensation of being uplifted thanks in part, again, to the harmonies and stellar production. In fact, we can truly see this song performed in an arena setting with visuals and lighting that would take things to the next level.
The final two tracks are Stay Awake, which blends pop melodies with metalcore riffs that you can say “ugh, that’s so good” before you start headbanging to the solid breakdown. They conclude with Still Asleep, the slowest, yet still epic, song on the EP that serves moody vibes within an industrial rock soundscape.
The fact that this is their debut EP is jawdropping as we know there’s so much more to come, and whenever they drop new music in the future, we will be more than ready to receive it.
