Changing Places In The Fire announce self-titled debut album
CHANGING PLACES IN THE FIRE have announced their debut self‑titled album, set for release on July 24th, 2026 via Wild Thing Records.
The exile‑born, Venezuelan progressive rock/post‑metal act’s debut full‑length draws on themes of migration, displacement, and fractured identity, shaped by the band’s members now being scattered across Europe and South America. Formed by musicians from the Caracas scene, CHANGING PLACES IN THE FIRE features Daz Medrano (vocals), Alfredo Ovalles (keyboards), Antonio Silva (guitars), Javier Landaeta (guitars), and Miguel Ángel Moliné (drums).
Speaking on the album announcement, Ovalles comments, “this album has lived with us for years. Announcing it now feels less like a launch and more like finally letting it breathe. These songs were written in a period of upheaval, and somehow they feel even more urgent today.”
Alongside the album announcement, the band have released a new video single, A Reason To Fall, taken from the upcoming record. Speaking about the new song, vocalist Daz Medrano says, “these were the first lyrics I wrote and recorded. I started to believe then we could create something special.”
Keyboardist Alfredo Ovalles adds, “leaving is always a gamble, even when hope remains. A Reason To Fall was the first song Daz wrote vocals for when we sent him the early material — he came back almost immediately with the full melody and a large part of the lyric already there. That instinctive response shaped the emotional direction of the record. The song lives in that uncertainty between departure and arrival, which runs through the whole album.”
