Hulder announce new album ‘Verbolgen’

HULDER have announced a brand new album!

The US-based dark black metal outfit will release their new full-length effort, Verbolgen, on August 7th, 2026, in a co-release between 20 Buck Spin (North America) and Season of Mist (world ex-North America). The upcoming record is the follow-up to 2024’s Verses in Oath and marks their most fully realised statement to date, continuing to build on the project’s foundations in Scandinavian black metal while pushing further into atmospheric and ceremonial territory.

Spanning nine tracks and just over forty-eight minutes, Verbolgen explores themes of ancestral memory, natural sovereignty, and ancient ritual, with lyrics written in English, Flemish, and Proto-Germanic. Musically, the album shifts between driving, riff-heavy passages and more meditative moments, incorporating acoustic instrumentation and elements such as hurdy gurdy to deepen its connection to pre-Christian mythological and folkloric traditions.

The album also signals a significant evolution in the band’s structure. Originally conceived as a solo project, HULDER now formally expands with Necreon joining as a full creative partner, following his previous contributions as a session musician. Additional performances come from Keld (MAJESTIES, OBSEQUIAE, CELESTIIAL) on hurdy gurdy, guitars, and keys, while drums are split between touring drummer Vapula and Vrolok (AETERNUS, GORGOROTH). Session flute is performed by Ianuaria.
