The Obsessed sign with Heavy Psych Sounds
THE OBSESSED have signed a new record deal!
The American doom metal pioneers have inked a worldwide deal with Heavy Psych Sounds Records for the release of their forthcoming new studio album, which is expected to arrive in 2027. The announcement marks a new chapter for the long-running band following the release of Gilded Sorrow in 2024, and comes as the group continues work on their next full-length record.
Founded by Scott ‘Wino’ Weinrich in 1978, THE OBSESSED are widely regarded as one of the most influential bands in the history of doom metal, with landmark releases including The Obsessed in 1990, 1991’s Lunar Womb, and 1994’s The Church Within. More recently, the band expanded to a four-piece lineup and welcomed MONSTER MAGNET drummer Bob Pantella in 2025.
Speaking about the signing, frontman Scott ‘Wino’ Weinrich shares, “we are very happy to announce THE OBSESSED signing with the premier hard rock label Heavy Psych Sounds! THE OBSESSED is currently finishing the next full-length record, which will be released with HPS. Stay tuned, and thanks to all who believe.”
