Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats announce new album ‘Shapes of Midnight’
UNCLE ACID AND THE DEADBEATS have announced a brand new album!
Titled Shapes of Midnight, the upcoming release from the Cambridge psychedelic doom and heavy rock outfit is set for release later this year via the band’s own Killer Candy Records. The album is the follow-up to 2024’s Nell’ Ora Blu, the band’s synth-driven soundtrack for an imaginary Giallo film, and sees the band return to a more guitar-focused approach while continuing to expand upon the psychedelic, proto-metal sound that has defined their previous work.
Inspired in part by Edgar Allan Poe‘s The Masque Of The Red Death and the anxieties of modern life, Shapes of Midnight was recorded live to analogue tape at Abbey Road Studios with engineer Chris Bolster and mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Noel Summerville.
Speaking about the record, songwriter Kevin Starrs explains, “our albums exist in an alternate universe to our own. They’re all stories that could happen here, but everything’s just a bit ‘off’.”
Alongside the announcement, the band have released the new single, Shapes Of Midnight. The new song is the second single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from Don’t Let It Control You, released earlier this year.
