Insomnium announce new album ‘Netherworlds’

INSOMNIUM have announced a brand new album!

The Finnish melodic death metal masters have revealed their tenth studio album, Netherworlds, which is scheduled for release on October 16th via Century Media Records. The upcoming record follows 2023’s Anno 1696 and sees the Joensuu-based outfit continuing to expand their signature blend of melancholy, introspection and melodic extremity.

The album also marks a new production chapter for the band, with Miiro Varjus playing a key role throughout its creation alongside mixer Jens Bogren and mastering engineer Tony Lindgren.

To coincide with the announcement, the band have also unveiled a music video for Shadowlife, the first single to be taken from the upcoming record.

Speaking about the new single, vocalist and bassist Niilo Sevänen shares, “as a story, Shadowlife can be seen as a thematic gateway to the entire record, an elegy not only for a lost beloved, but also for the fading belief that anything beautiful can remain untouched by time. It is a realization that love, youth, summer, and warmth cannot be preserved forever.”

Guitarist and clean vocalist Markus Vanhala adds, Shadowlife opens the dreamy next chapter of INSOMNIUM with a certain self-aware catchiness. I set out to write an obvious hit, perhaps even a so-called ‘banger’, to kick things off, but don’t worry: The deeper cuts will follow.”
