Paerish announce new album ‘Rita’
PAERISH have announced a brand new album!
The French alt-emo outfit have revealed their new album, Rita, which is scheduled for release on October 16th via SideOneDummy Records. The upcoming record follows 2023’s You’re In Both Dreams (And You’re Scared) and sees the band reunite with Grammy-winning producer Will Yip, who has now worked across much of the band’s discography.
Speaking about the upcoming album, vocalist/guitarist Mathias Court explains, “Rita is an album deeply shaped by childhood memories, the passing of time, and the need to preserve a sense of creative sincerity through the years. Its title refers to a bell tower I could see from the window of my family’s apartment in the South of France when I was a child. Saint Rita, patron saint of lost causes, embodied something both protective and luminous to me, but also the sacrifices and uncertainty that come with having a band and trying to make a living from it.”
The album was recorded with Will Yip in Philadelphia and was written with live performance firmly in mind, resulting in what the band describe as a louder, heavier and more immediate record than its predecessor.
To coincide with the announcement, PAERISH have also unveiled Vapor Cloud, the second single to be taken from the forthcoming record, following the previously released Wait For Dark.
Speaking about the new single, Court shares, “Vapor Cloud came from reflecting on the past few years spent writing songs, and the desire to keep that passion alive as time goes by. There’s a certain sadness in seeing how, once people leave their twenties behind, many of them stop being creative in order to pursue a more settled life. As a songwriter, you sometimes wonder whether that urge to create could eventually fade away in you as well, just as it has in so many people around you. I think there’s a vital need, as an artist, to never lose touch with those creative feelings tied to childhood and adolescence, because they remain an endless source of inspiration.”
