Cancer announce new album ‘Shadow Gripped’

CANCER have announced a new album!

The new album, Shadow Gripped, is the long-awaited new album from the legendary UK death metallers and is scheduled to be released in November this year.

The upcoming album will mark the band’s 30 year anniversary and will reunite all three original core members, John Walker on guitar/vocals, Ian Buchanan on bass and Carl Stokes on drums, for the first time since 1995.

Shadow Gripped was recorded at Foel Studios, with Simon Efemey (PARADISE LOST, NAPALM DEATH, AMORPHIS) handling production and mixing duties alongside the band and features a special guest appearance from Anders Nyström of BLOODBATH/KATATONIA, who says:

“believe it or not, but KATATONIA used to play a CANCER cover in our early live sets, yup that’s right Burning Casket! We then saw ourselves go on and form a little death metal band based on the opening track of To The Gory End, and hey we all know that one, don’t we? Last year we ended up recording this song and put it out on a 7” EP and I thought it probably won’t get any better than this, but it did, as I was given the honour to put down a guest solo on their new ball-cutting album! CFC is back and it has me even more stoked than Carl is Stokes!”

A day after the album’s release in early November, the band will make a UK exclusive performance at this year’s Damnation Festival, performing alongside the likes of ENTOMBED AD, NAPALM DEATH, IHSAHN and more. Speaking about performing at this year’s festival, drummer Carl Stokes says, “CANCER are thrilled to be included on the bill at Damnation Festival, especially as it is our 30th year since our formation and will coincide with the release of our new album Shadow Gripped, to be released by Peaceville Records. We will be debuting some new songs from the album as playing some of our old favourites.”

Shadow Gripped is set for release on November 2nd via Peaceville Records.
