PREMIERE: Desensitise – Obzerv
Distorted Sound is delighted to premiere a brand new song from OBZERV!
The song, titled Desensitise, is taken from the band’s upcoming new album Acherontia Atropos which is scheduled to be released this Friday!
Speaking about the song, the band tells us, “this was one of the first songs that the band wrote after the release of the first album, so you might as well say it is the link between those two albums. It balances the simplicity and punch of the first one with the complexity and depth of the second. You can identify a few influences on this one, like LAMB OF GOD, DECAPITATED, CAR BOMB & THE HAUNTED to name a few. The band carries their own sound wrapping it all up with their use of guitar effects like ring modulators and pitch shifters, that enraged snare and the vocalist’s unique way of screaming punch lines everywhere.”

Continuing to talk the album, the band says, “it has been a great challenge releasing this album, from the birth of the first song to the release date. These days, everyone knows that being in a band means that the music part is only a small percentage. That being said, the band has done a huge percentage of that on their own. The vision we had could not be achieved differently. Our guitarists John Mor and Giannis Leledakis, are both professional sound engineers so, bringing that vision up to life was a bit easier. With J. Mor being responsible for a big part of the production and all the mixing, and G. Leledakis being the recording engineer for the most part, the rest of the members were at safe hands to perform their best. In general we wanted to make art that means something, to make the listener feel something. We didn’t want to sound like every modern band out there, instead we focused on making our instruments sound raw, full of energy and huge. Every little note that was played, had a purpose, everything tells a story. It took quite a lot of time to finalise and produce these songs but we are really happy with the result in every aspect. Every song feels like a different scene of a film and that diversity across songs, came out naturally. It’s like we took every aspect of the metal genre that we liked and meticulously put it together like a big puzzle. It sounds effortless though and we are so happy about that.”
Acherontia Atropos is set for release on April 5th via self-release.
