Redwood announce debut album ‘Beside A Shallow Sun’
REDWOOD have announced their debut album!
Titled Beside A Shallow Sun, the upcoming album from the UK alternative rock band is their debut full-length effort and is scheduled to be released in November this year.
The upcoming debut sees the band blurring the lines of genre and creating an ornate and ethereal indie-pop, shoe-gaze soundscape with both depth and heart. Working with long-time collaborator Hamish Dickinson at Phoenix Sound, Nottingham, the upcoming debut intends to show 12 tracks expertly woven together by tales of nostalgia, existentialism and the romanticisation of time passing by.
Speaking about the upcoming album, vocalist/guitarist Alex Birchall says, “lyrically the songs on Beside A Shallow Sun hold many different meanings for me. While writing, I would just sit down and sing what came to mind in that moment. I feel like that’s the most natural process for me when recording vocals. I would often write about things that I hadn’t realised I was feeling until the process began, hiding meaning in metaphors. This record has a very nostalgic throughline where I question myself about the relationships I have formed in my life and how those experiences played out. Being a textbook over-thinker, it’ was therapeutic for me to sing about the things that I had been stressing over and be able to listen back to it in the context of a song.”
Alongside the announcement of the debut album, the band have released a new music video for the first song lifted from the upcoming album; Ate My Weight.
