Big|Brave announce new album ‘in grief or in hope’
BIG|BRAVE have announced a brand new album!
The Canadian experimental drone/post-metal trio have announced their tenth full‑length album titled in grief or in hope. The album will be released on June 12th, 2026, and marks a powerful new chapter for the band as they continue expanding their boundary‑pushing electro‑acoustic sound. in grief or in hope serves as the follow‑up to 2024’s A Chaos Of Flowers, while also echoing musical and lyrical themes found on earlier releases such as 2015’s Au De La and 2014’s Feral Verdure.
Alongside the album announcement, the band have released the first single, the ineptitude for mutual discernment, a piece that encapsulates their singular command of textural distortion and emotional intensity – juxtaposing bristling layers of guitar against vocalist Robin Wattie’s unwavering, resonant delivery. The accompanying video was created by guitarist Mathieu (Mat) Ball with colour correction by filmmaker Stacy Lee.
Wattie writes, “I wanted to explore catchy, melodic phrasing weaved throughout the intensity of the instrumentation and droney chord changes. All that I could reflect on was grief and hope; death and life; cause and effect; shared experiences of being a human person.”
