Continents release new music video for ‘Smile’
CONTINENTS have released a new music video!
The new music video, for the track Smile, is the latest single from the Welsh metalcore outfit and digs deep into the psychological scars left by manipulation, bullying, and gaslighting. Following the release of Corrupted earlier this year, Smile draws inspiration from the unsettling ambience of classic horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
Speaking about the new single, vocalist Phil Cross says, “Smile is about the kind of manipulation and bullying that buries itself in your mind. We wanted the song to pull listeners into that mental chaos, the intrusive thoughts, the self-doubt, and the long-term effects that continue to twist your reality long after the experiences have ended. It’s uncomfortable on purpose, because that’s exactly what surviving it feels like. The atmosphere draws heavily from Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and a lot of the eerie sounds were created organically in our guitarist Gareth’s kitchen, out and about by using a mobile mic and whatever we could get our hands on at that time.”
