Damnation Festival announce six new bands
Damnation Festival have announced six new bands!
Following the announcement of HIGH ON FIRE, OVERHEAD, THE ALBATROSS and CODE earlier this month, now, six new bands have been announced for this year’s extreme metal festival in Manchester.
Leading the charge in the new announcement is American post-black metallers DEAFHEAVEN, UK thrashers ONSLAUGHT – who will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a special celebration of 1985’s debut Power From Hell – and one-man industrial outfit AUTHOR & PUNISHER.
Also confirmed is American thrashers TOXIC HOLOCAUST, Italian doom metallers MESSA and American death metal trio NECROT.
Speaking about the new announcement, festival organiser, Gavin McInally, says, “some bands are worth the wait and to finally have DEAFHEAVEN at Damnation to mark our 20th anniversary feels like perfect timing. If the first two tracks from their forthcoming album are anything to go by, we’re in for a very, very special set.
This year is our 20th anniversary and for the Sunday in particular we want to celebrate that milestone with as many bands who’ve helped shape the festival’s legacy as possible. ONSLAUGHT haven’t just levelled Damnation twice before, their 2008 show was such a classic set they committed it to a live album. There was absolutely no question that they’d be invited back for this milestone and the fact they’ll use our main stage to deliver fans their debut record in full, with what sounds like a huge pyro party, is the icing on the thrash metal cake.”
We’re also delighted to host Damnation debuts for AUTHOR & PUNISHER, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, MESSA and NECROT who offer an amazing mix of industrial, thrash, doom and death metal to the line-up. Incredibly, this is only half of what we have in store this year. Fans can expect another 24 bands to be announced, including headliners. Pay your £15 deposit today to sign up for the instalment scheme and sell out our 20th birthday bash by the summer.”
Speaking about performing at this year’s festival, ONSLAUGHT says, “we’re super stoked to announce that we’ll will be bringing exclusive, pyro-fuelled, full-production chaos to this year’s Damnation to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our debut album, Power From Hell, which will be performed in full! This marks a truly special event…we’ll see you all in the pit!”
