Damnation Festival announce three new bands
Damnation Festival have announced three new bands for this year’s festival!
Following the announcement of Czech black metallers CULT OF FIRE earlier this month, now, another three bands have been revealed for this year’s extreme metal festival in Manchester.
UK post-rock/doom songstress A.A. WILLIAMS will perform their only UK show of 2024 at this year’s festival, whilst UK hardcore punk legends DISCHARGE will celebrate their 1982 crust record Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing at the festival’s Night Of Salvation event. Also confirmed to perform at the Night Of Salvation event is post-metal outfit NORNA.
DISCHARGE step in to replace SICK OF IT ALL, who withdrew from all touring commitments whilst vocalist Lou Koller undergoes cancer treatment.
Speaking about performing at this year’s festival, A.A. WILLIAMS says, “I’ve waited a long time to play Damnation. There’s always such a wonderful varied selection of artists on show at the festival, I’ve attended a few times and have had the best time so I’m really excited to join the line up. I can’t wait to play my new song Splinter on home soil too – this will be my only UK show this year so I’m looking forward to making it count.”
Festival organiser Gavin McInally adds, “this booking has been a long time coming, and very much in demand, so it’s fitting that A.A. WILLIAMS completes the bill for what is on course to be the most successful Damnation yet. If you thought NORDIC GIANTS was an emotional start to Damnation last year, pack the tissues again because she takes you on a jaw-dropping vocal journey not quite like anything else you hear on the rock and metal live circuit.
We’re absolutely honoured to have DISCHARGE not only step in at such late notice, but to agree to celebrate this legendary record. Given the time left available, it won’t be an entire play through but they have committed to the vast majority of the record – around 10 tracks – with the added bonus of an encore of hardcore punk classics from across their back catalogue. Strap yourself in. This one’s for Lou!
It’s tough to put your finger on NORNA‘s sound but WILL HAVEN and GODFLESH jamming after a CULT OF LUNA listening party at least points you in the right direction. Their latest release is incredible and we’re delighted to have them on our Pelagic Records Stage this year.”
Damnation Festival 2024 takes place at BEC Arena, Manchester from 1st November – 2nd November 2024. Tickets are available now and can be purchased here.
