Damnation Festival reveal two more bands
Damnation Festival have announced two more bands for this year’s festival!
After a double whammy of DECAPITATED and BRAND OF SACRIFICE, who were both announced back in April, now, the UK extreme metal festival one-dayer have announced two more bands for this year’s festival!
Doom titans MY DYING BRIDE and the intriguing SO HIDEDOUS are the latest bands to join this year’s linuep. Unfortunately though, a change in TOXIC HOLOCAUST‘s tour plans for the winter means they’ll remain in the States and are no longer available to play Damnation.
Speaking about the latest announcement festival organiser Gavin McInally says, “at this point, adding MY DYING BRIDE to the bill feels a little excessive but we don’t want to just make Manchester work, we want to sell this year out and become the biggest indoor metal festival in Europe. MY DYING BRIDE are a band popular across our entire fanbase – power violence to post-rock – and we’re delighted to have them back for the first time in a decade. And SO HIDEOUS, much like WE LOST THE SEA and FRAYLE who’ll also be marking their UK debuts at Damnation, are exactly the kind of booking we want be making; fresh, interesting and exciting for us, the bands and most importantly, the fans.
They are a hard band to pigeonhole, which is what makes them so intriguing but if I was forced to give a description, I’d say if CONVERGE, AMENRA and IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT had a threesome, SO HIDEOUS would be your sex tape. Losing TOXIC HOLOCAUST, or any band from a bill is never great, but after last year we’re fully prepared to handle ‘unforeseen circumstances’ and we’ve proved that Damnation is the kind of event that will lose PIG DESTROYER, WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM and ELDER and give you CARCASS, PARADISE LOST and GODFLESH as compensation. We do have a couple of final bands to announce, which we’ll keep up our sleeve for the post summer fest promo, unless you help us sell out this month, in which case we’ll add them then.”
Damnation Festival 2022 takes place at BEC Arena, Manchester on November 5th 2022. Tickets are available now and can be purchased here.
