Death Engine release new music video for ‘Dying Alone’
DEATH ENGINE have released a new music video!
The new music video, for the track Dying Alone, is taken from the French post-hardcore/post-metal band’s upcoming third album Ocean, which is scheduled to be released in January next year via Code Records, Throatruiner and L’Autre Distribution.
The song draws influence the indus/post punk scene of NINE INCH NAILS or THE SOFT MOON, for a track where bass/drums are in the foreground, with efficiency. It also features clean vocals for a first in the band’s music.

Ocean is the first album from the band since 2018’s Place Noire. Vocalist/guitarist Mikaël Le Diraison explains, “At the beginning of 2019, the band stopped. We were getting tired and our relationship within the band had become tumultuous. I started to think about something else, then came the lockdown,. Like everyone else, I found myself in this anxiety-provoking situation, which paradoxically turned out to be pleasant. A new relationship with temporality was established. I listened again to what we had done and I remember having this feeling of having left things undone, of having just scratched the surface of the project’s potential. I couldn’t stay with that huge frustration. I went back to writing, with the intention of reactivating the band, looking at things differently, and getting out of a negative spiral.”
The album was recorded and mixed by Gwen Kerjean at Slab Sound Studio, Edern, France. Drums were tracked and recorded by Joris Saïdani at The Apiary, Laval, France, and the album was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, New Windsor, USA.
On the themes of the album Le Diraison continues, “The title of this album seemed obvious to us. It seals the identity and the musical direction of the band, without ever restricting itself. We’ve done a lot of writing, experimenting and refining of our style. So much has happened in our lives and in the world during this time. Ocean is steeped in the emotions that went into writing and recording it. It was a rocky road, with the departure of two band members being one of the difficult things to overcome. And in the background, the overwhelming current events, the pandemic, the conflicts, especially the one in Ukraine, the condition of the refugees, the environmental collapse… If the right to hope was definitely being taken away from us, Ocean had be the soundtrack. We wanted a
nuanced, powerful and melancholic album. One that resembles us and has the claim to take the listener on an inner journey.”
