Deities release remastered self-titled EP

DEITIES have released a remastered version of their debut EP!

On March 30th it was announced that Daniel Earl, frontman of UK metallers DEITIES had sadly passed away. This news left a gaping hole in many hearts, particularly his bandmates. Guitarist Dave Klussman made that decision that as a tribute to his legacy that their debut EP which was released in 2014 was to be remixed/remastered to give him a fitting farewell.

“When I heard the news that Dan had passed, I really didn’t know what to do with myself. This was the first time someone so close to me had passed away and I really didn’t know what to make of it, it didn’t feel real. I started rummaging through all the old DEITIES stuff for nostalgia’s sake and found a USB stick containing all the original files for our debut EP, which for years I thought had been lost. I opened up the files to have a look and it just felt right to start working on remixing & remastering them. I was a bit apprehensive at first, I thought it was going to be really difficult to go back through the old stuff and work on Dan‘s vocals, but it was actually very cathartic. It made me really thankful for everything we were able to do together, we’re only a small band but we got to do so many great things and I’m still really proud of all the music we made. It’s been almost seven years since we first released these songs, a lot has happened since then, a lot of new songs have been written and these songs had kinda been pushed to the wayside. I don’t often go back and listen to the old stuff, but working on these songs again has revitalised my appreciation for them. The original version of the EP was never uploaded to streaming services, so I’m hoping this re-release will get it out to a whole bunch of new people and give the old heads a new appreciation for it from a fresh perspective, just like it has for me!”.

Alongside the release of the remastered EP, DEITIES have released a new music video for a cut from that release; Hindered Soul. “The lyrics in this song are a perfect reflection of how we feel having lost Dan. Losing a loved one is never easy, but it is crucial that we focus our energy on what great memories we have and do our best to honour their legacy. In the end we all fade away, memories are what remain,” Klussman explains about the song.
