Download Festival announces 80 bands for DL21!
Download Festival have announced the first 80 bands for DL21!
The giant announcement for 2021 comes as a big treat for goers of the festival after 2020 was cancelled due to COVID-19. The festival have tried to keep hold of as many of the 2020 bands as possible, but there have been some changes.
Two of the headliners, KISS and SYSTEM OF A DOWN, remain the same as 2020, whilst IRON MAIDEN have been replaced with Scottish rockers BIFFY CLYRO, their first appearance since headlining 2017.
BIFFY CLYRO says: “We can’t wait to return to headline Download in 2021! It’s a highlight of the festival calendar and a big part of our history as a band. Headlining in 2017 was special and now it’s time to celebrate again! Fuck on!”
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and STEEL PANTHER have been announced to headline second stage, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND to close the Avalanche Stage on Saturday and ELECTRIC WIZARD, SEPULTURA and MYLES KENNEDY (only UK acoustic performance) to close the Dogtooth Stage.
On top of that, Download attendees will get a chance to see A DAY TO REMEMBER, DEFTONES, KORN, FRANK CARTER AND THE RATTLESNAKES, VOLBEAT, GOJIRA, MASTODON, THE DARKNESS, BUSH, STONE BROKEN, AIRBOURNE, LACUNA COIL, SLEEP TOKEN, GENDER ROLES, CREEPER, EMPLOYED TO SERVE, BLUES PILLS, OBITUARY, TWIN TEMPLE, WAYWARD SONS, TEMPLES ON MARS, LOATHE, DEAD POSEY, PHOXJAW and more!
Despite the huge announcement of bands, there are still plenty of more to keep your eyes peeled out on in the future!
Download Festival’s Andy Copping says: “2020 has been a tough year for us all, and we were beyond gutted not to be able to experience Download Festival with you all. We gave you Download TV to reflect on memories of the past, and what the festival means to all of us. Download 2021 is going to be something special and go down in the history books as when the Download family reunited. We’re going to be working hard behind the scenes to make Download 2021 an unforgettable experience and a celebration of the festival we all love.”
