Drift Away release new music video for ‘Where The Air Stands Still’

DRIFT AWAY have released a new music video!

The new music video, for the track Where The Air Stands Still, is taken from the Portland, Oregon-based metalcore band’s upcoming debut EP, Chapter 1: Misery, which is scheduled to be released later this month, via self-release.

Speaking about the new song, vocalist Ernell Pearson says, Where The Air Stands Still is about grieving the loss of a loved one, how we choose to handle that grief when someone we care about deeply is taken from us, and how one can easily feel like they failed this person when they were still alive. When my siblings and I were mostly teenagers, we lost our oldest brother and it gave way for a massive chasm to take hold of our family, especially so for my younger sisters who were very close to him. When someone you love passes away, you have to build a better relationship with death in order for you to continue on without feeling like you could have or should have done more to prevent it from happening.

All these years later, I’m a dad now. I wrote this song from a place of wanting to always do right by my daughter because that relationship with death has taught me that I could lose her at any moment. This song is a reminder of how my family felt back then and a way for me to tell myself to keep holding her close. I hope it can be a reminder for others as well.”
