EP REVIEW: Built From War – Upon A Burning Body
After what may have been deemed a misstep or loss in direction Texan heavyweights UPON A BURNING BODY came surging back to form with their colossal 4th album Southern Hostility in 2019. Striking while the iron is hot the quartet have returned with follow-up EP Built From War which is available now via Seek And Strike. Will this release continue their path of destruction?
5×3 commences with heavy bludgeoning grooves that make an instant impact. The bouncy tempo and signature gritty vocal deliveries combined with a monstrous breakdown ensure that this release hits the ground running. Built From War continues the scintillating intensity as thunderous drums and a boisterous pacing will have your skull rattling. This track will be the ideal calling card for certified chaos if unleashed in a live setting. Chains Of Agony commands you to bang your head from the offset with intoxicating riffing whilst injecting some enticing melodies as the chorus comes along. Expertly executed lead work also adds a further spark to proceedings.
Living For The Weekend refuses to be outdone by its compatriots as it launches headfirst into further instances of neck snapping groove. If you needed a raucous burst of energy to accompany your summer then this is the perfect accompaniment. Extermination saves the heaviest riffs for last as it pummels you with unrelenting precision. Rapid fire drum blasts and an addictive rhythm will leave you reeling and feeling mildly thankful that you have survived this release with your eardrums still intact.
