EP REVIEW: Ruthless Intent – Extinction A.D.
Long Island powerhouse EXTINCTION A.D. have continued to go from strength to strength in recent years and 2022’s full-length Culture Of Violence was a shining example of their emphatic evolution. The quartet have opted to take full advantage of their gathered momentum by unveiling a fierce four-track EP appropriately titled Ruthless Intent which is available now via Unique Leader Records.
Prodigal Scum dives deep into the heart of the action, announcing its arrival with explosive grooves and venomous vocal outbursts. The crushing riff work alongside destructive drum sequences proves to be a potent combination. Under The Hood follows suit with an equally hefty array of adrenaline-fuelled assaults. The proceeding breakdown section topped off with a gnarly guitar solo is a certified means of assuring any crowd within its radius will descend into utter chaos.
Living To Desecrate is filled to the brim with raw, unrelenting aggression. A commanding, stomping beat leads the charge, abruptly switching into a rapid-fire thrash rampage. Morality Bait stays locked into that sweet spot, reeling off plentiful acerbic riffs harbouring enough intensity to crush your bones into dust.
If you are in dire need of that early morning ‘pick me up’ or a new addition to refresh your gym playlist then EXTINCTION A.D. have just prescribed an immediate injection of energetic fury which is guaranteed to boost those waning energy levels. This incendiary 16-minute powder keg shows no inkling of fear as it confidently charges head-first through a brick wall before grinning, ready to do it again. Ruthless Intent is an infectious concoction of energetic, mosh-infused hardcore that demands to be played loud enough to upset your neighbour’s neighbours.
