EP REVIEW: Summer Of Luv – Fizzy Blood
2017 has been an exciting year for Leeds based rockers FIZZY BLOOD, having already played Download Festival, 2000 Trees, Reading and Leeds amongst many other prestigious festivals and accompanying WHILE SHE SLEEPS on their incredibly successful UK tour they seemingly have the world in the palm of their hands. September 1st sees the release of their eagerly awaited follow up to 2015’s Feast entitled Summer Of Luv via Killing Moon/Alya Records.
Since their inception the five piece have became renowned for creating their own unique blend of explosive catchy rock and Summer Of Luv kicks it up a notch. Opening track Pawn is quite possibly one of the most infectious songs you will hear for the rest of the year with its bouncy, energetic vibe and raw punk drenched riffs.
ADHD and Summer of Luv both harbour a indie/pop style feel which are short and snappy in nature yet very inviting but the song that feels the strongest and stands apart from the group is Haunted, its simplistic but incredibly ominous and dark sounding riffs are chilling and grab your attention immediately and it is a dead cert to be injected into their live sets for years to come. Healing Isn’t Free rounds the EP off nicely with it’s eccentric nature interlaced with alluring electronic accompaniments.
FIZZY BLOOD have managed to achieve the perfect blend of an accessible, catchy sound but at the same time putting their own stamp on it with quirky, hard hitting beats that set them apart from the pack. Summer Of Luv is a real statement that FIZZY BLOOD aren’t here to mess around, every song on the EP could easily stand on its own as a strong separate entity but partnered with the other tracks it proves for an infectious slab of vibrant and versatile rock. It’s just a shame there isn’t more material to sink your teeth into as it instantly leaves you craving for more.
