Inferno Metal Festival is being held four days at Rockefeller Music Halls’ two stages Rockefeller and John Dee as well as many smaller clubs around Oslo. The festival takes place during Easter in Norway when not a lot of other stuff is happening in the capital.
INFERNO EXPERIENCE
Every year, hundreds of metal fans from all over the world attend the festival and explore Norway’s capital city Oslo. In previous years, the festival has hosted several experiences for metal fans to explore the city’s darkest, but also most beautiful places, as well as offer enthusiasts a glimpse of Norway’s natural beauty, which has inspired many Norwegian artists in the past and still does.
INFERNO AND EDVARD MUNCH
Oslo is the city where Edvard Munch grew up and started out as an artist. This is also the place where he spent the last decades of his life. Today, Oslo houses the largest part of Munch’s artistic production, including his best known masterpieces. Join our Munch tours during the festival and get to know one of the greatest artists of modern times!
BLACK METAL BUS TOUR
The Black Metal Bus sightseeing with Anders Odden is back! A trip through some of the places that marked the beginning of the legend that became Norwegian black metal. Conducted by Anders Odden [CADAVER, CELTIC FROST, ORDER]. Between 1991 and 1993 many of the most important events in this chapter in Norwegian music history took place in Oslo and we have put together a field trip to the sights that takes you back in time.
Anders Odden formed his first black metal band, SLAUGHT, in 1986 after attending a rehearsal with MAYHEM at the age of 14. He was one of the pioneers in the infancy of the Norwegian scene dealing with tape trading, organising of concerts and creating more and more extreme music on his own. He formed CADAVER in 1988 and released the first Norwegian death metal album on Earache Records in 1990. His band played shows with DARKTHRONE, MAYHEM, OLD FUNERAL and many more bands of what would become the Norwegian black metal scene in the beginning. This field trip has exclusive anecdotes and personal memories of the early life of the scene from someone who was there.
