Godthrymm announce new album ‘Distortions’
GODTHRYMM have announced a new album!
Titled Distortions, the upcoming album from the British doom metal band (featuring former members of MY DYING BRIDE, ANATHEMA and more), is the follow-up to 2020’s Reflections, and is scheduled to be released in August this year, via Profound Lore Records.
“I absolutely wanted to create a much more layered and complex arrangement in the sound,” notes guitarist/vocalist Hamish Glencross. “Totally amping up the contrasts to the extreme – the light shines brighter, and the darker depths are vast trenches. There is a lot more harmony and melancholy for much of it, but also some slab-heavy riffing, too. We wanted a total progression in the production and more class and clarity in the sound, as opposed to Reflections, which could get quite dense in tone.”
Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released a new song lifted from the upcoming album; Echoes. Speaking about the new song, Glencross says, “this last couple of years brought challenge and heartache to too many of us. Echoes is our ode to loss and grief. We lost people very dear to us, and this song came from that. Love and loss is universal, and I hope we may share and connect through our music.”
