Kyros announce new album ‘Recover’

KYROS have announced a new album!

Titled Recover, the upcoming album from the 80s synth-pop outfit is the follow-up to 2020’s Celexa Dreams and is scheduled to be released in August this year, via White Star Records.

The upcoming album is a selection of cover songs featuring special guests that the band recorded throughout lockdown last year as well as some more choice cuts to add to the collection. Some of the guests on the album include John Mitchell of FROST*/LONELY ROBOT, and Ray Hearne of HAKEN and Andy Robison of IHLO.

Speaking about the upcoming album, Shelby Logan Warne, vocalist and keys, says, “we’ve always worn our influences on our sleeves when it comes to how we approach the KYROS material, so it felt appropriate to take that a step further through the lockdown period and dedicate one of our Isolation Gigs to paying homage to some of our favourite songs from some of our favourite bands. When it came to putting this out as a proper release, we wanted to take yet another step further and throw a few more songs into the mix and explore some deeper cuts. And thus, Recover was born!”

Alongside the announcement of the new covers album, the band have released a new video clip for a new song lifted from the upcoming release; a cover of HAKEN‘s The Good Doctor. The song features guest appearances from Ray Hearne from HAKEN on drums and Andy Robison of IHLO on vocals.

Speaking about the collaboration, Ray Hearne says, “recording The Good Doctor with the KYROS guys (on what felt like the hottest day of 2020!) was super fun and almost felt like playing a HAKEN show again! The guys did a great job with this cover version, working in all manner of cool KYROS quirks and a beautiful array of Scottish male vocal tones. Truly wonderful!”

Andy Robison adds, “it was great to work on this cover version that blends two of my favourite bands in the progressive music scene together! I’ve got a huge admiration for the band, so to be part of that process for this was awesome!”
