Lakes announce new album ‘Slow Fade’

LAKES have announced a new album!

Titled Slow Fade, the upcoming album from the Watford-baswde emo band is the follow-up to 2023’s Elysian Skies, and is scheduled to be released in July this year, via Lucky Art/Big Scary Monsters.

“We’ve always been an album band. Typically we’ve written way too many songs and stuck the leftovers onto EPs, but this is the first time we’ve thought about having an arc; a beginning, a middle and an end, like a movie, which is kind of how the title Slow Fade came about,” explains vocalist/guitarist Roberto Cappellina about the upcoming new album. “I think because we were going into it knowing that we’d be doing it ourselves, pacing, sequencing and dynamics were something we were more conscious of.”

Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released a new song lifted from the upcoming album; Hypernow. The new song is the second single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from Peach Fuzz, which was released back in March.

Speaking about the new song, Cappellina shares, Hypernow is about not being present and thinking about the band ALL the time. It’s one of those where I wasn’t really sure what it meant until after we’d tracked it. I definitely carry a lot of guilt for not thinking twice about missing a birthday or a wedding for years on end, and I think at some point it’s put a strain on all of our relationships.”
