Lamb Of God announce new album ‘Into Oblivion’
LAMB OF GOD have announced a brand new album!
The modern metal titans will release Into Oblivion on March 13th via Century Media & Epic Records. The record is the follow-up to 2020’s Omens and marks the band’s first full-length release in four years.
Produced and mixed by longtime studio collaborator Josh Wilbur, Into Oblivion was recorded across multiple locations tied closely to the band’s identity. Drums were tracked in Richmond, Virginia, with guitars and bass recorded at guitarist Mark Morton’s home studio. Vocalist Randy Blythe recorded his vocals at the legendary Total Access studio in Redondo Beach, California, the birthplace of seminal punk records by BLACK FLAG, HÜSKER DÜ, and DESCENDENTS.
Speaking about the upcoming album, guitarist Mark Morton shares, “for me, the album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation. It feels nice to be untethered from any agenda beyond rallying around the notion of, ‘Let’s just make music that we think is cool,’ which is really where it all started.”
Vocalist Randy Blythe adds, “because that’s where we’re heading. In general, the album is about the ongoing and rapid breakdown of the social contract, particularly here in America. Things are acceptable now that would’ve horrified people just 20 years ago.”
Alongside the announcement, the band have released the album’s crushing title track Into Oblivion, accompanied by a video directed by Tom Flynn and Mike Watts. The single follows previous tracks Sepsis and Parasocial Christ.
