Light Grey announce new album ‘NIGHTM@RES’
LIGHT GREY have announced a new album!
Titled NIGHTM@RES, the upcoming album from the Galway-based emo-pop-rock band is their brand new full-length album, and is scheduled to be released in September this year, via Never Meant Records.
The upcoming album was co-produced by Luke Bovill of HAPPYDAZE/ex-WOES. The semi autobiographical concept heavy record follows a protagonist through the tribulations of a series of interconnected dreams, crescendoing from a dream-like state deeper into nightmarish panic.
“Almost everyone has experienced insomnia at some stage in their life,” says Ciaran Nevin from the band. “We wanted to write an album that encapsulates the feeling of desperately wanting to go to sleep, but you can’t for a myriad of reasons. All of us relate to the songs on NIGHTM@RES, and we feel like others will understand too.”
Alongside the announcement of the new album, LIGHT GREY have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; Something New. The new song is the latest single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from Crazy, Insomnia, Square One, Losing Sleep and Famous.
Speaking about the new song, Nevin says, “in Something New, we’re digging deep into the mess of regret and the craving for a reset. It’s about letting go of what doesn’t serve us anymore and pushing forward, no matter how tough it gets. It’s about flipping the script and embracing change, even when it’s scary as hell.”
Mikey Connolly adds, “Something New has some of my favorite production on the album, the swirling atmospheric reversed synths and guitars underpinning the track perfectly encapsulates the half asleep grogginess and uncertainty of being in a barely conscious state after a night of tossing and turning.”
