LIVE REVIEW: The Vintage Caravan @ Academy 3, Manchester
THE VINTAGE CARAVAN seems to be a rather a stealthy adoration. While it was no way a packed crowd in the Manchester Academy 3, every audience member was evidently enthusiastic to the three Icelandic machine on stage.
Starting off the proceeds was the only support of the evening and who were causing an emergence in the UK rock scene. It was UK alternative-rock band EMPYRE and right from the get-go, the quartet shown their natural ability to seam through distinctive concepts and musical techniques to generate an amicable commotion accompanied by the above-mentioned vocals. EMPYRE further proved through their title track Relentless that they’ve captivated their Mancunian audience with such urbane musical range. While teasing Parasites into the mix, neatly fitting alongside their setlist were the doubly emotive My Bad and the gloomy Stone. The massive influence of Homegrown and their closer New Republic ended their successful set, showing further proof of why a support band is vital for any concert.

There’s plenty to express about bands coming into the scene wide-eyed and keen to make victory for themselves. It’s especially more inspiring if that particular band has in fact been in existence for over fifteen years make waves across the music world. The Icelandic rock three-piece THE VINTAGE CARAVAN made a huge impact with their vivacious presence and their overall joyous banter throughout the course of the night. Bursting with energy from the triple threat Whispers, Crystallized and Reflections, one could tell that electricity was in the air and everyone was ready to let go such reservations. When the rock trio offered to slow things down with Innerverse, it followed that followed through a pulsating opening that led to the supercharged crowd favourite duo Sharp Teeth and Reset.
Bringing to the court with their contemporary blend of 1970s catchy psychedelic and southern blues, the tracks Hell, Babylon and On The Run were the perfect complements that worked and was well received by the small yet adoring audience. One could even see spectators in locked arms bouncing to every beat of the energetic parts of the show and huge appreciations expressed from both drum and bass solos. Bringing in the more freshly new fans into the world of THE VINTAGE CARAVAN was mainly settled nicely by musical rock giant Expand Your Mind, which proceeded into the tender number Clarity and led into their winning electric closer Midnight Mediation.
