Megadeth announce new self-titled album

MEGADETH have announced a brand new album!

The legendary American thrash metal icons will release their self-titled final record on January 23rd, 2026 via Tradecraft in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s BLKIIBLK imprint. Serving as the band’s sixteenth studio album, the follow-up to 2022’s The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, the release marks the closing chapter of a career that has sold over 50 million records worldwide and earned a GRAMMY Award.

Alongside the announcement, the band have confirmed the album will include the previously released first single Tipping Point and a very special bonus track: a reimagined version of Ride The Lightning, which Dave Mustaine originally co-wrote with James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Lars Ulrich for METALLICA’s 1984 classic.

Speaking about the decision to revisit the track, Mustaine says, “as I come full circle on the career of a lifetime, the decision to include Ride The Lightning, a song I co-wrote with James, Lars, and Cliff, was to pay my respects to where my career first started.”
