Memorist release new music video for ‘Kijo’
MEMORIST have released a new music video!
The new music video, for the track Kijo, is taken from the emerging UK alternative metal band’s upcoming debut EP, ONI//KIJO, which is scheduled to be released in November, via Year Of The Rat Records.
Speaking about the new song and its accompanying music video, vocalist Jon says, “Kijo is probably the most similar in style to our original three singles as you can get on the EP, ONI//KIJO. It is a chorus-driven song, with soaring vocals and open instrumentals. Another song that was started purely as a ‘band’ song, Kijo received a late injection of electronic elements from Crayg (synths) which really brought the finished piece together. There are elements of 80s influence in this song, as well as post-rock and ambient electronica, and it is another song that surprised us all immensely once it was finished.
The video for this song is also a bit of a nostalgic nod to our original three singles, as it was filmed in the same place as our very first photo shoot and was entirely DIY, just like our original two videos. Lyrically, it plots the final point on a journey through the EP which explores some challenging themes throughout a relationship breakdown and the resulting emotional wreckage; it ponders ‘what happens next’ after all this has been experienced and dealt with, and leaves a stepping off point at the very end for the next cycle of songs.”
