Messenger release new track and album artwork for Threnodies
WORDS: Tom Wakenell
London-based prog rockers MESSENGER have released a brand new track Balearic Blue, which is taken from their forthcoming album Threnodies.
After recently being signed to InsideOutMusic, MESSENGER are set to release their second album on the 22nd April.
The band released their debut album Illusory Blues in 2014, which was well received and won the Limelight award at the Progressive Music Awards that year.
In anticipation of Threnodies ,the five-piece have put out Balearic Blue, a hypnotising track within a similar vein to prog rock legends OPETH, accompanied by some stunning visuals. You can listen to the song here:
MESSENGER spoke of their excitement about Balearic Blue and the accompanying artwork:
“We’re very excited to present a preview track from our forthcoming album Threnodies as well as the cover artwork. The artwork and layout were created by Colombian, Berlin-based artist Daniel Correa Mejia. We were mesmerised by his paintings and decided that his work fits perfectly with our music.”
MESSENGER will be touring in preparation for the new album’s release, by joining Finnish band VON HERTZEN BROTHERS on their UK tour in March. They have also been confirmed for Hard Rock Hell Prog in March and Stone Free Festival at the O2 Arena in London.
