Netherlands announce new album ‘Severance’
NETHERLANDS have announced a new album!
Titled Severance, the upcoming album from the New York City-based progressive sludge metal band is the follow-up to last year’s Kali Corvette, and is scheduled to be released in March this year, via Svart Records.
The upcoming album was produced by Kurt Ballou [CONVERGE, HIGH ON FIRE]) in the walls of Ballou’s God City Studio in Salem, Mass, which proved the ideal space to capture the record’s massive sounds.
Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released a new music video from the upcoming album; Omisha.
Speaking about the new song, band mastermind Timo Ellis says, “when I was writing this song I’d just re-watched The Seventh Seal (Bergman), and sort of broadly channeled my impressions of the film into the lyrics, which are sung as a kind of matter-of-fact warning from an angel of death. And although not specifically related to the vocal narrative, the name Omisha generally means ‘Goddess of birth and death’ and is of Indian origin. Musically it’s basically just a funky sludge rock killer!”
