Noctule: Dovahkiin – Skyrim Quick Fire with Serena Cherry
Often known for being in UK metal band SVALBARD, Serena Cherry first grew her roots in black metal, now in 2021, she returns with the announcement of her upcoming solo black metal project, NOCTULE. The project was inspired one night in the COVID-19 lockdown playing Skyrim and she thought about how the game itself connects so well to black metal, and then how cool it would be to create an album dedicated to the Elder Scrolls game itself. Ahead of our in-depth feature with her, we decided to pick her brains on some quickfire questions about the game to get a better idea on who she is in-game and more.
Stormcloak or Imperial?
Neither, do I have to go for one? I haven’t picked in the game, I’m neither a Stormcloak or Imperial, I want to say Stormcloak but I always worry there’s a connotation of racism, but I will say Stormcloak. Please I’m not racist!
Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild?
Brotherhood.
Favourite City?
Oh God, fucking hell. Whiterun, the one where you buy a house! Yeah Whiterun!
Conjuration or Alteration?
Alteration.
Ignore the chicken or risk leaving home as a criminal forever?
Leave the chicken. My housemate does that, he kills everything, it’s heartbreaking!
Most metal Daedric prince?
Oh, oh God. I’m now struggling to think of any. Oh, obviously Nocturnal or Sangria, I like him aswell.
Favourite side quest?
Oh, the one where you get to the lighthouse and turn on all the lights! Oh, can I retract my answer for the previous question? Obviously it’s Hermaeus Mora, the Wretched Abyss!
What NPC claims he would sell his sister in a second?
Oh God, is this just like a general knowledge question? Oh God! He lives in Whiterun! Is it the guy in the shop? Belethor? He reminds me of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast!
You have acquired the Amulet of Mara, who do you marry?
Oh, another good question. Well, not Belethor! I’d just marry a Nord because they’re all really fit!
Are we running the 7,000 steps or pretending to be a mountain goat all the way?
Running.
What if one of the Greybeards shouted you as you got to the bottom and said you forgot something? Would you A. Tell them to do one, B. Run back up like a good little Dragonborn, C. Abandon the whole game?
I play really good and everything, I don’t kill anything unnecessarily, the Thieves Guild I had to kill so many people! So I would run back up like a good little Dragonborn.
Kill or spare Paarthanax?
Oh spare! Of course, I could never kill him!
Wretched Abyss is set for release on May 28th via Church Road Records. Pre-orders are available now and can be purchased here.
