Norna announce new self-titled album
NORNA have announced a new album!
A self-titled effort, the upcoming album from the Swedish and Swiss doom metal band is the follow-up to 2021’s Star is way way is Eye, and is scheduled to be released in August this year, via Pelagic Records.
Sculpted the same way as their debut album, with ideas and hooks hewn from a mass of noise held quite literally in the clouds (Dropbox being the band’s platform of choice), the band this time entered the process with a vision; a final, horrific form in mind. As such, the eponymous record intends to push their boundaries even further beyond the extreme, with even the briefest moments of calm quickly curdled by the band’s use of insidious ambient synthesisers, manipulated samples and even more distortion.
Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released a new song from their upcoming album; Ghost. Speaking about the new song, the band says, “Ghost is a sonic ride leaving something behind but still in mind. Inviting the shadow self to become one. Overwhelming but still with beauty.”
