Ocean Embers release new music video for ‘Elephant In The Room’

OCEAN EMBERS have released a new music video!

The new music video, for the track Elephant In The Room, is the debut single from the emerging UK metalcore band and is a taster of their upcoming EP, Artificial Energies, which is scheduled to be released later this month.

The new single was produced by Daniel Kerr [OUR HOLLOW, OUR HOME, CONFESSIONS OF A TRAITOR, SHIELDS] and the accompanying music video was shot by Shaun Hodson of Loki Films [ARCHITECTS, LORNA SHORE, THY ART IS MURDER].

Speaking about the new single, guitarist Forrest Daley says, “this single and EP is unapologetically nostalgic towards the pinnacle of metalcore – the 2010s. That sound will never get old to us, and this single encapsulates the best of this era of music. The name OCEAN EMBERS was chosen to symbolise the yin and yang between smooth clean vocals over warm captivating synth and roaring chuggy riffs, served with powerful screamed vocals.”

Vocalist Samuel Vincent adds, “the song is about when a close group of people are poisoned from the inside by the secret negative intentions of someone hiding behind a false positive persona. Some are blinded by this facade while others are aware of the damage being caused, so it creates an elephant in the room over what it’s going to fall on in order to shut down this toxic dynamic somehow. The video shows the band powering through in the presence of a succubus, which represents something trying to poison a group in this type of scenario. There are multiple glitches along the way being symbolic of this concept.

On the upcoming EP, each song represents a different sigil on the album cover below, and each song channels its own Artificial Energy. Forrest elaborates, “when recording the EP we realised each track had its own unique vibe and we wanted to bring that feeling to life through these sigils. We contacted a graphic designer by the name of Stoic, sent him the lyrics and worked with him to create the world of Artificial Energies. We had the idea of assigning each track to a respective sigil and colour for ultimate synchronicity, it will also make for some cool merch down the line.”

This EP intends to be more than just shapes and colours. Vocalist Sam further explains the meaning behind the title, “the theme of the songs on this EP are about the hidden sides that people have. Trying to understand what is real when being met with different variations of artificial energies, experiencing someone change from their initial outward persona and the impact this can have.”
