PREMIERE: Erased – Forlorn
We here at Distorted Sound are delighted to premiere the debut song from FORLORN!
Titled Erased, the brand new track is the debut offering from the emerging six piece metal band and is taken from their upcoming double single! Blending aggressive riffs with big ethereal atmospherics, FORLORN have crafted a sound that is captivating as it is refreshing. Collective influences of GOJIRA, OATHBREAKER, CULT OF LUNA and EMPLOYED TO SERVE collide as the band’s complex sound strikes an immediately strong impression. We here at Distorted Sound were blown away and we are delighted to give Erased its official premiere.
The double single, featuring Erased and Emotionless (due to be released on February 14th, keep posted to us as we unveil the song soon), were recorded with producer George Lever [SLEEP TOKEN, LOATHE, HOLDING ABSENCE] and both songs’ music videos were filmed with PurpleYam Productions [CHAPTER & VERSE, PALMIST, MSRY].
Speaking about the songs, vocalist Megan Elliott says, “when we formed FORLORN last year, we didn’t really know what to expect. We knew that we wanted to go in to the studio, record some material and eventually release it but we honestly had no idea what the end result would look like or how we wanted to go about setting the whole thing in motion.”

The band’s second vocalist, William Young adds, “I always wanted to start something that was thematically similar to bands like GOJIRA and ARCHITECTS but was sonically unique. Being influenced by a range of music, I had focused the sound on blending the more chaotic side of metalcore with bands such as WHILE SHE SLEEPS, EMPLOYED TO SERVE and CODE ORANGE but also bringing a progressive/post metal edge with influences like CULT OF LUNA, OATHBREAKER and ALCEST where Megan’s vocals could shine. Something that was both raw yet carried gravitas. While the lyrical content is focused on themes of climate change and corruption, we wanted to focus more on how this is affecting our own emotions as well as life in general. With Erased & Emotionless, we wanted to set out our statement of intent, with one showing off our atmospheric aspects while setting the scene and the other demonstrating the chaos inflicted by the pace of modern life. We feel this has been encapsulated in both PurpleYam’s videos and Simon A Visuals’ artwork that depicts a metaphor of our reliance on nature.”
