PREMIERE: MISERY – Written By Wolves
We here at Distorted Sound are delighted to premiere the new music video from WRITTEN BY WOLVES!
The new music video, for the track MISERY, is one of the brand new singles from the New Zealand cinematic rock band and is an accompanying piece to TAKE ME HOME, which was released earlier this year.
Speaking about the song, vocalist Michael Murphy tells us, “MISERY is an emphatic plea for something more in life than what we have been sold. The broken mental health systems, the loneliness and isolation felt by so many in a day and age in which we are more connected than ever, the over worked and stretched teachers, nurses, doctors and employees in almost every industry, inequality in almost every aspect of society and a self-serving, capitalist ideal that is not designed to aid or look after the well-being of people, humanity or the planet, yet continues to roll on with the ferocity of a runaway steam train. Yet, through all this, the song implores hope, that there has to be more than this and there has to be a way to dig ourselves out of the hole we find ourselves in – that we are not just made for misery and through all the negativity there is beauty in the world and the desire of those that wish to change it for the better.”

Continuing to talk about the new music video, Murphy adds, “the accompanying music video for MISERY is the second half of a two-part release with TAKE ME HOME. Both videos showcase the beauty of our hometown, Auckland and it’s city skyline. Where TAKE ME HOME was shot at dusk and features the beauty of Aotearoa, New Zealand by daylight, MISERY puts the dramatics of the night front and centre and uses the colour scheme of the city at night to further accentuate the songs message. We have enlisted the help of a full string section and a three-part backing vocal line for both videos and the end result is a spectacular showcase of not only the beauty of Aotearoa, New Zealand but the band’s high energy live performance – which we are finally bringing to Europe and the UK this November. After years of covid setbacks and countless cancelled tour plans we are ecstatic at the prospect of finally playing to audiences across Europe and the UK and promise to elevate our live show even further as a thank you for years of patient, unwavering support from our fans.”
