PREMIERE: Psychostasia – Daemonia Nymphe

Distorted Sound is delighted to premiere the brand new album from DAEMONIA NYMPHE!

We’ve covered this intriguing band before. Back in June, our Editor James Weaver, penned a feature that lifted the lid on the Ancient Greek ensemble, but now, we are delighted to premiere the re-release of their stunning album Psychostasia.

Originally released in 2013, the album offers a phenomenal insight into the world they create with their authentic instrumentation, and with the re-release, complete with three bonus tracks, we’re offering you a wonderful chance to become reacquainted with the unique duo.

Speaking about the album, the band says, “Psychostasia takes us into the journey of Life, the journey of the Psyche. It starts with Zephyros’ Pnoe(breath), passes through Nemesis’s Kingdom, continues into Thracian Gaia, dances under the influence of Selene, constructs an unnamed Politeia, reaches Deo’s Eros, transforms through Nature, becomes enchanted by a magical dream, sees all his life in a moment and falls into deep Sleep.”

Speaking about their unique sound, founding member Spyros Giasafakis tells us, “I was fascinated by the visual arts of Ancient Greece and especially the classical and Archaic Era, I was born in Athens and visiting the Acropolis had a big influence in my vision of creation. At that time I started studying sculpture at the School of Fine arts in Thessaloniki. My involvement in visual arts made me question the sound of ancient times.”

Psychostasia (re-release) is set for release on November 22nd.
