PREMIERE: The Reaper And The Revenant – Karybdis

We here at Distorted Sound are pleased to premiere the brand new song from KARYBDIS!

Their new track entitled The Reaper and The Revenant is their first material since 2021’s Order & Chaos and may be an indication on what to expect from them in the future.

Speaking about the track, vocalist Rich O’Donnell says “I took some inspiration from an Edgar Allen Poe story when coming up with the lyrics for The Reaper & The Revenant. It tells the tale of a man (The Revenant) in love with Death (Reaper), who brings himself back from the dead again and again so that he can be with the Reaper, which then leads to cataclysmic events.”

“I wanted to expand on the sound we forged on Order & Chaos and push the dynamics and technicality to the next level” adds guitarist Dave Klussmann. “The song kicks off as a real rager with fast technical riffs and dissonant breakdowns, but then transitions into something a lot more atmospheric, with melodic basslines and dense instrumentation. The Reaper & The Revenant marks a new era for KARYBDIS and serves as a blueprint for future music.”
