Scowl announce new album ‘Are We All Angels’
SCOWL have announced a new album!
Titled Are We All Angels, the upcoming album from the Bay Area-based hardcore band is the follow-up to 2021’s How Flowers Grow, and is scheduled to be released in April this year, via Dead Oceans.
The upcoming album was produced by Will Yip [TURNSTILE, TITLE FIGHT, MANNEQUIN PUSSY etc], who worked on the band’s 2023 EP Psychic Dance Routine. The album was mixed by Rich Costey [FIONA APPLE, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, VAMPIRE WEEKEND etc].
“Hardcore and punk have sculpted how we operate, what we want to do as a band, and how we participate,” says guitarist Malachi Greene. “At our core, we are a punk and a hardcore band, regardless of how the song shifts and changes.”
Alongside the announcement of the new album, SCOWL have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; Not Hell, Not Heaven. The new song is the second single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from Special, which was released back in October.
“It’s about feeling victimized and being a victim, but not wanting to identify with being a victim,” explains frontwoman Kat Moss about the new single. “It’s trying to find grace in the fact that I have my power. I live in my reality. You have to deal with whatever you’re dealing with, and it ain’t working for me.”
