The Halo Effect release new cover of W.A.S.P.’s ‘I Wanna Be Somebody’

THE HALO EFFECT have released a brand new cover!

The video, for the track I Wanna Be Somebody, is the latest single from the Swedish melodic death metal band and marks their third cover release. Originally written and performed by W.A.S.P., the song was handpicked by guitarist Jesper Strömblad and reimagined with the band’s signature intensity and modern production.

The single is taken from the band’s upcoming EP We Are Shadows, which is scheduled to be released on November 21st via Nuclear Blast Records. The EP will be released digitally and as a limited vinyl edition, and features reinterpretations of iconic tracks that celebrate the band’s heavy metal roots. The new EP follows on from the band’s latest studio album, March Of The Unheard, which was released back in January.

Speaking about the new single, Jesper Strömblad comments, “W.A.S.P.’s aggressive sound and eccentric stage presence has always been fun. The shock of songs like I Fuck Like a Beast and fun anthems like I Wanna Be Somebody, and L.O.V.E. Machine, are powerful and heavy. Extreme and dramatic, controversial and fun, W.A.S.P.’s I Wanna Be Somebody, off their debut album, was my first introduction into the band.”
